We will be stocking stuff from the three major labels (Universal, Sony and Warners) and their associated sub-labels, so we will have all major releases by the top chart, pop and rock acts.
But really our heart is in the world of the independent label.
Here is an idea of some the labels you’ll find here:
XL: currently home to the likes of Radiohead, Adele, Sigur Ros, The Horrors etc
Sub Pop: Seattle’s greatest. Originally home to Nirvana, Mudhoney, Soundgarden, Tad etc but still producing fabulous bands such as Heron Oblivion.
Third Man: Jack White’s label, based in Detroit, producing “direct to acetate” recordings by the like of Jack himself, the Shins etc
Sacred Bones: New York label specialising in noisy (and not so noisy) psych rock from the likes of Amen Dunes, Follakzoid, Psychic Ills, Pharmakon, plus soundtracks by the likes of David Lynch and John Carpenter.
El Paraiso: Danish psychedelic/electronic label, home to Causa Sui, Papir etc (see elsewhere on this website for more info about them)
Rock Action: Mogwai’s label
Bella Union: Set-up by the fellas from the Cocteau Twins. Now home to Fleet Foxes, John Grant, Midlake etc
Matador: New York-based label home to Kurt Vile, Savages, Interpol.
Domino: London label, home of Arctic Monkeys, Animal Collective, Wild Beasts.
Rough Trade: Legendary UK Label, currently home to Arcade Fire, Alabama Shakes, the Decemberists, Sufjan Stevens, to name but a few…
4AD: UK Label, currently home of The National, Beirut, Daughter, Deerhunter and more
Jagjaguwar: US Label, based in Virginia, currently home to Dinosaur Jr and the Besnard Lakes
Mexican Summer: US Label run by the chap behind Oneohtrix Point Never. Wooden Shjips and Dungen are both on here.
Death Waltz: Specialists in old soundtracks, particularly of horror films.
The Vinyl Factory: Beautifully packaged, weird and wonderful, very eclectic…
…and many many more. But that should give you a general idea.
